Superyacht Aviva of British billionaire Joe Lewis, the owner of English Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur football club, arrived in Can Tho on Sunday and is anchored in the Hau River area near the Can Tho Bridge, marking its third voyage to the Vietnamese city after the previous two visits in 2019.

Lewis chose Can Tho as his first destination during this revisit to Vietnam because he was impressed with the riverine culture of the Mekong Delta region and the hospitality of the local people, according to Huynh Van Son, general director of Sea Star Saigon JSC, who arranged the billionaire’s visit to Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province and Da Nang City three years ago.

He visited the popular Cai Rang Floating Market and the Con Son community tourism area during his previous visits to Can Tho.

The billionaire is scheduled to join a meeting with Can Tho leaders and drop by some places in the city and the Mekong Delta region in the coming days.

Lewis is widely known as the owner of Tottenham Hotspur, which finished the English Premier League 2021-22 season in fourth place.

He is the 490th-richest person on Forbes’ 2022 list of billionaires with a net worth of US$5.4 billion as of June 6.

He was the 41st-wealthiest person in the UK, according to the Sunday Times’ Rich List 2022 issued in May.

As Lewis’ mobile home and office, the 98-meter-long Aviva, built by German-based Abeking & Rasmussen, was launched in 2017, featuring an indoor, full-sized padel tennis court.

It is ranked 61st among the top 100 biggest yachts in the world, according to superyachts.com.
